Beautiful Meera Vasudev.

  I had this week end all by myself;  my girlfriend had some work at office. I thought of spending my time watching some good movies. After watching ,like three Hollywood movies at a stretch, I thought it would be refreshing to watch something in malayalam. I am a huge fan of Indrajith and so decided to watch one of his old flicks.

I was happy to come across the movie called 'Oruvan'. Indrajith had done a wonderful job. I loved the way he and Lal acted in it. Surprisingly, whole through the movie the leading lady, Meera Vasudev, wore Lungi Blouse and Thorthu. That's something very rare in mainstream movies (if it is not a period story).

From what I have heard of her, she is a completely modern lady and yet she managed to manage that dress beautifully..nothing gross at all. Here are the photos of her from the movie that I found online. Wonder if women folk are noticing it. This attire is NOT bad at all.

 Hi all,

I recently saw an event called Sooryathejasode Amma by the Malayalam Film Artists. In one of the dance events of the program, young malayalam actresses came dressed in Lungi Blouse. It was a feast for the eyes. It is always nice to see young generation of girls wearing this traditional attire. Here are the photos for you lads.

Lungi Blouse : Sri Lankan style

Hi all,

I happen to come across few photos of two Sri Lankan actresses and few local Sri Lankan girls in what appears to be Sri Lankan version of our Lungi Blouse. It seems this is a common attire in Sri Lanka for women and they are not shy to wear it, which is quite unlike ours. Our women folk have alienated Lungi Blouse as if it's disgusting. They should learn a lesson from their Sri Lankan counter part.

Here are few pictures of Archana Kavi in mundu blouse. She looks cute and beautiful in this dress. I am not a fan of girls exposing navel. To an extent it looks good but too much makes it obscene. In these photos as you can see though she isn't wearing a thorthu over her chest, she has worn the mundu high enough not to expose her navel which I found to be interesting. These photos prove that mundu blouse can be worn without exposing navel (many have pointed out to me that mundu blouse reveals a lot). I love the way she has tucked up the tip of her mundu to her waist. I found traditional dress more suiting to her than any modern attire.

  Recently I was back home for new year. My girl friend and I decided to spend our holidays at one of our houses that was on recent for past few years. Since the family had moved out , my parents thought it would be nice if we stay there and clean up the house a bit.

Though I like coming to Kerala, there are certain things that I can enjoy only in Banglore. My girlfriend doesn't mind wearing lungi blouse at home. Not always but she does wear occasionally. And she does it not because I like to see her in those but because she likes it. On rare occasions she has even ventured out in Lungi Blouse and Thorthu for buying vegetables from the local 'mobile sabzi valla'. She's cool wearing it in front of her friends and doesn't mind wearing it in front of my non-malayali friends too. If one of my malayali friends is going to visit us, I am supposed to give her a heads-up. I have seen her pulling nightie over her lungi and blouse once a malayali friend of mine dropped in unexpectedly. Now that we were in Kerala she had decided not to wear it for a while, though she doesn't mind wearing lungi and Tshirt or shirt instead of nightie at night.

The family which stayed there before had left lots of magazines in the house and we decided to remove them to clean the house. While surfing through the magazines she came across one particular copy of 'Mahilarathnam' magazine of which the cover page featured two actresses in Lungi Blouse. And god, they looked stunning. The cover was a part of an article about the long forgotten local delicacies of Kerala. What I liked about the photos were that those showed three actresses of different body types all dresses in Lungi Blouse and Thorthu and all three managed to look stunning. It was evident that no matter if your tall, short, slim or plum lungi blouse suites you well.

Modern version of Chattayum Mundum?

I happen to watch the movie 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint'. In the movie the lead actress Priyamani appears in what I should call as a designer version of Chattayum Mundum (traditional attaire of Christian women in Kerala). And she looks fantastic.. I think the generation of girls should experiment with our traditional dresses bringing it back into style. Here's the photo of Priyamani.
