Anumol and traditional dresses..

Hi all,

Posting after a very long time.

Of all the actresses we have today in Malayalam film industry, I think Anumol is the only actress who can carry traditional attire the best. Be it be saree, or set mundu or even mundu blouse.

She is a brilliant actress and one of my favorites.

Though she has appeared in many film wearing mundu blouse; she has not yet worn lungi blouse. She has become one of the go to actress to portray a rustic malayalm village character.

Unlike other actresses, she actually likes and enjoy wearing mundu blouse, which is totally surprising.

Here is one of the pics she shared recently.

As always, leave your comment below and tell me your opinion.

Reel Life vs Real Life

Hi all,

I have shared many posts of this traditional rustic attire from movies. We have seen plenty of actresses and models wear this dress.
But these weren't from their real life; these were part of their reel life. Most actresses wore it during song sequences or for scenes when their character is supposed to be dressed in lungi. Same are the cases with models; they were it for photo-sessions or for advertisements.

Lets talk about how it is in real life. I am pretty sure none of them wear lungi blouse in real life. The dress is very very rare. Mostly worn by women over 50 and rarely worn my women under 40.

It is like there are more men who like these dresses than women. I personally know many (including myself) who love to see women dressed in lungi blouse. I have been one of the lucky ones; my wife too likes this dress and fortunately she used to wear this even before we started a relationship. I think it is safe to believe that this isn't that common; infact this is very rare.

I had planned for a post where reader of this blog can share their experience with this attire. I had communicated with few of them(who mail me) via mail. I will soon share that post. Mean while this post if for the other readers to share their experiences : Men , share what makes you like this attire, tell us what you expect from your better half on this and their thoughts on this. Women, please share your thoughts on this attire and your experience wearing this (if any). Feel free to comment as anonymous.

This pic of Sona is the only one of any actress where they have worn lungi blouse thorthu at their home/privacy and not in a movie set or for photo session.

Lungi Blouse in Malayalam Movies 4

Hi all,

Long time since I posted last. I had been quite busy dealing with stuff.

As the title suggests this is the fourth installment of a popular topic, lungi blouse in malayalam movies. Once again, I am here to share my thoughts on actresses wearing this attire in malayalam movies.

Recently, we had been able to see few movies that uses this attire either through out the film or for song sequences. For me, as long as the main actress is wearing it and is not used to spice up an item song, it is move in the right direction.

The more screen time this attire gets the more people will see it and accept it as a normal dress. Especially if young actresses wear this dress like any other, younger generation will get imprinted to a favorable outlook (rather that the 'yuck' attitude) towards this dress. It is good to see actresses like Ansiba wear lungi blouse bringing it to the new young generation of girls.

We (Saranya and I) have moved back to Pune. We needed a change of location and this helps. Unlike last time we were here, this time she is more comfortable in wearing this attire. We had spent about an year back home and she had been wearing lungi blouse and thorthu more often than before and not just at our home or in the field but also move around the neighborhood. Many of her school and college friends and some of my friends who visited us saw her in this dress and surprisingly, she was okay with it. She wasn't as shy as she used to be. May because of this, now she wears it more frequently than before in and around our flat in Pune. She is neither reluctant to speak/visit to our malayali neighbors in the building wearing this nor is she shy to go out for a walk or buy vegetables from the shops near the main road. I must confess, I am loving it.

I have had been working on few posts before which I didnt get time to complete. I will try to sort them out and post them as soon as possible.

Mean while, check out these few pics and share your thoughts with us.

Back to the roots...

Hi all,

It's been long since I posted.

Last few months weren't the best ones. Finally I have time to blog again.

I have moved back to my native village and plans to be here for a while. I am starting over my life; our life - both Saranya's and mine. Both of us have quit our jobs and plan to take a long break from cooperate life.

I will try to keep updating the blog more frequently now that I got more spare time.

Today, I am sharing pics of one of my favorite actresses , Jyothirmayi. I happen to come across these pic on net and yes, she is wearing lungi, blouse and thorthu. The thing I like about these photos is that unlike the other pics I shared or other pics I have seen online of women or girls in lungi blouse and thorthu, she is dressed like some one who works in this dress; it's not new, it's not neat nor fresh. And this is what it is all about. Saranya always say that lungi is the dress you can get dirty in. It is the dress you can work in and look dirty, it's not what you wear to a party or to a mall. It's what you wear when you are ready to get muddy or you want to be comfortable moving around not caring about style or fashion.

Not a fashion statement but a life style.

Feel free to share your thoughts. Negative or positive; comments are welcome.

Awesome Road trip and other adventures - Part 1

Hi all,

So finally after a months vacation, I am back in Pune resuming normal life. I am gonna pick up where I left in my last post.- the Road Trip to Kerala.

So we started one fine morning to Kerala from Pune. It was my first time traveling to Kerala by road. Accompanying us on the trip were some of my team mates and their family, Ashok and his wife Yogitha, Nirmal and his malayali wife Nimmy, Yogesh , Priti and Alex (our friend from New Jersey).

Saranya was pretty close the team as we had been out for lunch and dinner many times. They are also familiar with her passion for the traditional attires. Since most of them wear not from Kerala (except for Nimmy) , Saranaya was never shy to wear lungi blouse and thorthu in their presence. Once my team came over for  lunch and she was really comfortable in lungi blouse and thorth before them. Along with queries about the spicy fish curry , she happily entertained queries about her attire. Thanks to Chennai Express movie, now lungi is kinda famous and people seems to think that Lungi is a common dress among women too in south.

We had loads of fun , during the trip and ended up taking more than 3 days to reach Kerala. The highlight of the journey was our the stretch from Pune to Banglore. We started a day late as Alex (our US team member) decided to join us for the trip. So all others camped at our place in pune for the day until Alex who was in Delhi that time could sort out things and join us in Pune.
As usual, Saranya was in wearing lungi blouse and thorthu (since there were other men she preferred to keep her thorthu on all the time). Nirmal was curious why his wife, Nimmy, even though a malayali , never wore this attire at all and wanted her to try it out. She said it is a matter of preference and that she being bought up in a city never actually saw women wear lungi blouse other than in movies. She was open to try it out and borrowed one of Saranya's lungi to wear and spend the day wearing that lungi and a T shirt. Others also wanted to try out too and we ended up buying a couple of new lungis for them. I was incharge of helping the men wear lungi and Saranya helped the ladies. Nimmy and Priti managed to wear them properly but others including the men ended up using a belt to hold the lungi in place.

Next day , I went to pick up Alex from the airport and on returning I saw everybody except Nimmy and Saranya changed and ready. Later I came to know that Nirmal had dared Nimmy to wear lungi and blouse in public and Saranya had decided to support Nimmy by wearing Lungi blouse too.  Nimmy changed into a blouse she had brought and bought a thorthu to cover her bossom.
And we were off to Kerala with my beautiful wife and lovely Nimmy wearing lungi , blouse and thorthu.

It was interesting to see the reaction of the people when we got into restaurants or when we stopped by to take photos. This was some thing new for many people to see two women dressed in Lungi blouse and thorthu in public. Saranya was enjoying every moment of it. I had never seen her so much excited and happy.

We ended up taking so many photos; I never imagined I could have photos of her in lungi blouse in public places like road-side dhabas or at scenic locations. She was kinky enough to pose couple of photos for me shedding her thorthu when we found our selves alone. ;)  I love my wife and I am really one of the luckiest person in this planet.

For those who are not familiar with lungi -blouse-thorthu attire : Here is a pic of actress Ponam Bajwa in Lungi blouse and Thorthu

Actress Nandini in mundu blouse and thorthu
I will continue in my later posts. Take care.
